[MV Review] Cosmic Girls - Mo Mo Mo

It's hard to believe this song is already a month old, but it came out at the wrong time for me. The end of every month has exams, and then I had spring break, and then I had to get back into studying mode. It's a shame it took me a long time to review this because it is one of my favorite debut songs over the past couple of years.

"Mo Mo Mo" is a great song because it is an upbeat song that keeps the goodness throughout the whole song. In songs such as this, the chorus could be the only interesting part of the song while the verses are ignored; however, the verses retain the same great instrumental that the chorus has, but only just feels a little slower than the chorus. The transitions to the chorus don't seem to jump out of left field like what happens in a lot of songs. This structure keeps me interested in the whole songs instead of waiting for chorus to come around.

"Mo Mo Mo" has one major flaw -- the unneeded rap section. It's not just because I think rap is the lowest form of music, it's because it had no place in the song, as the song didn't even need the rap. The rap comes during the bridge of the song, which means that producers could have done anything. I would have preferred some vocalfagging over the out-of-place rap. Exy's rapping works much better in a song like "Catch Me" as opposed to "Mo Mo Mo". Aside from that, there's nothing in the song that I truly dislike.

The MV is your typical Kpop MV, which means that it features a high budget and a lot of attractive girls. I had to watch the MV a few times to pick my favorite members visually...after checking to see when the members were born. So far, Eunseo and Xuan Yi are my favorites.

Overall, Cosmic Girls are off to a good start. Now I just have to hope Starship doesn't fuck it up.

  1. Xuan yo isnt really KPOP - pretty but her full lips and smile are super adorbz. I also saw a member which looks like a mouse and 1member who looks like she did not want to debut.

    1. If a girl is in a K-Pop group, she's a K-pop in my book.

  2. The song is entertaining and all but 12 is too many for me to handle, and clearly they're just trying to be the next SNSD by being a big girl group. Like 12 is divisible by 3 and so is 9, and 12 is also divisible by 4 and so is 8. So yeah, they're clearly copycats.

  3. Glad I'm not the only one on this site that likes ''MoMoMo.''

  4. The song sounds like a cuter Neue Deutsche Welle song. It's pleasing, but I wish it had a bit more pep.

  5. The first of the song sounded great, but it got boring very quickly afterward. It would be better if the song had kept building up instead of slowing down. This song is still slightly above average.

  6. I applaud your determination in finding a picture of your two favourites together out of the 65(?) other possible combinations that could have happened in a pair photo.

    1. I was lucky to find it. I was initially just looking for individual pictures of the two and then I found that picture.

  7. After listening to this song a few times, the only thing I remember is that the title makes me think "with a rebel yell... Mo'..mo'..mo'!"

  8. Rap, when used in kpop, incorrectly, is the lowest form of music****

  9. Honestly I wasn't into MoMoMo at all when I first heard it, but I actually like it now. I probably have no taste, but I like Exy's rap here just fine (though it would have been interesting if they kept rappers strictly to Catch Me and singers strictly to MoMoMo, because honestly, this group is at capacity. I don't think I'll learn their names when I can't tell which girl popped up for .5 seconds of screen time).
